Veteran Actress Sharmila Tagore to Be Honoured at IFFD 2026 for Contribution to Indian Cinema

Mumbai/New Delhi: The International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) is set to transform the capital into a global cinema hub from March 25 to 31, 2026. The festival has received an overwhelming response, with 2,187 entries from over 100 countries, including 1,372 international and 815 Indian feature and non-feature films. Screenings will take place across India Mandapam, multiple city multiplexes, and open public spaces to reach a wide audience.

Highlighting the festival’s focus on cultural exchange, 40% of films will be Hindi, 30% international, and 30% regional Indian cinema, alongside patriotic, spiritual, and children-centric films. The event aims to bridge mainstream and niche cinema, fostering collaboration between Bollywood stars and global filmmakers.

As part of celebrating cinematic excellence, legendary actress Sharmila Tagore will be honoured for her decades-long contribution to Indian cinema. Known for her remarkable performances in Hindi and Bengali films, her screen presence and artistry have left an enduring impact on generations of filmmakers and audiences alike. Tagore expressed her excitement, saying, “IFFD brings global cinema under one roof. I am honoured to be recognised and look forward to celebrating diverse stories and voices that make cinema special.”

IFFD 2026 will be held at India Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from March 25–31.
